Author page loading trouble!

Hi,

I'm working on a simple HTML page for a local print shop:

http://www.brownprn.com/file_share/index.htm

It's loading really badly! Maybe it's the file size of the images? Maybe it's
because the pages are loading from a template? Maybe it's the main background
gradient is just a 1 pixel-high image that tiles all the way down? But when
you click on each link, the page loads in pieces and it looks terrible.

Help!!

The page structure is not valid. Not even close.

1. You have </table> tags all over the place that are not matched with
<table> tags.

2. You have many <tr> tags immediately inside <td> tags.

HTH,
Randy

ouch!

What can I do?

recode by hand? Is it because I used a template and built pages from that?

Thanks for you reply!

No, it has nothing to do with the fact that you used a template. No need to
recode by hand either, but you do need to know basic html. Then you would
understand and be able to correct what Randy is saying about the extra table
tags etc.,

OK.... I actually do understand a bit of HTML. I looked at the code and I think
I can decifer it if I know what to look for.

Could you please just point out one instance of what you're referring to? If
I see it once, I'll understand.

Thanks very much!

Actually have a very quick look at your code, I don't see too much wrong
with it.
I do notice however, that your images seems to have been resized in DW.
This should not be done - which could account for the length of time it take
to download the images... you should edit the size of the graphic to your
exact size you need in your graphics program.

I think Randy has posted to the wrong thread. Your code is not bad. Check
it yourself here -

Personally, I think you have a really nice site. I wouldn't change
anything....

I agree with Murray, its a nice looking site much better than the old one...

You might want to turn off directory browsing though!
Otherwise people will be wondering:
Is that Chris? Is that his beer and is that his fridge?

Thanks for all the feedback!

Another question: maybe the problem is the 1-pixel-high JPG that we are using
as the background of the main table cell (it's the gray gradient). It tiles to
fill the table cell.

Is there a way to do this with HTML? Style sheets? Rather than use a tiled
image?

Thanks again!
