Check-In/Check-Out Issues

| We have multiple developers working on the same site. The problem is that
multiple OS's and editors are being used. Myself and the other head developer
are using Dreamweaver (one on Mac OSX and the other on Windows XP). We have two
other developers that are using Open Source editors that allow for CVS on
Linux. Lastly, we have a contractor who using HTML - Kit on Windows XP. I
cannot find anyway for all of us to implement a Check-In/Check-Out scenario
that will work. Does Dreamweaver MX 2004 work with CVS? If not are there any
suggestions for this solution? Thanks.

| You could always use WinCVS/MacCvsX (win and mac cvs gui clients) outside of
DW, use the cvs gui to get files out of repository... edit away in
dreamweaver//notepad/vi etc and when done use the cvs gui to update/commit the
changed files back into repository.
I don't think cvs locks files that you 'checkout' (to prevent other developers
updating them) I think it does it's checking when you update/commit and shouts
if it can't 'merge' in the changes... Its been a while since I read the CVS
book (and a while since I've had to worry about another developer overwriting
my code) so you might want to check up on that.
