I know I must have learned this somewhere in the past but I cant remember.....I
want a jpeg on a website (the logo image) to not load slowly from the top down.
I want it to wait to display until the entire image is downloaded then display
instantaneously after it downloads. Isnt there a way to do this? If so will
you please let me know.

Wouldn't that highly depend on the users internet access (dialup verses dsl
verses cable) and whether or not it is stored in the cache?

What Im refering to is the progressive load verses an non-visible load. In other words, the image loads (at whatever rate) but doesnt display until it is fully loaded.

Images are either loaded from the local browser cache (in which case they
display instantly) or fetched from the server (in which case they will
display at a rate dependent on the speed of the internet connection and the
weight of the image). If your page is using an image that has not already
been cached, then there is no way to make that image display faster than it
can be fetched.

The solution would be to make sure that your images are well optimized so
that they download as fast as possible.

It also depends on how the image is encoded. JPEG and PNG allow standard
and progressive encoding.

Using standard encoding the image will usually display from top to
bottom. Progressive encoding allows the browser to already show a very
blurred, but full size image right after receiving the first few KB,
with more and more details showing up as the download proceeds. The
latter is not supported in current IE, which will lead to the effect the
OP wants (even if I don't understand _why_ he wants that at all).
