i formatted some text using a div wiht a style call and updated all pages in
the site. the updated pages had a dw-generated class instead. tried it with
font formatting and the same problem occurred. neither way dw updated it looked
the same as the original.

any ideas?

I don't have a clue what you are describing, or whether it is related to
anything DW. Can you show me a page, or give me some steps that will allow
me to reproduce it?
