How big is the picture? Background images don't resize to fit the screen.

Then you will only see all of the picture when viewed at 1024 x 768. As
murray said background images do not resize to fit the screen.

Actually not, since the browser chrome will eat some of it. You would only
see the full image at 1280x1024, and then it would tile some.
