I recently went to ammend and then save some of the files that I use for my
website. However, I was prompted with this error message:

While executing receiveArguments in File_SaveAs.htm, the following JavaScript
error(s) occurred:

At line 20 of the file "C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Dreamweaver
MX\Configuration\Menus\MM\File_SaveAs.js" exception throw in native funcion

We have recently moved all our files onto a new hard drive as the last one
became corrupt. I cannot save any new files that I create and cannot edit any
of my pages. Can someone please help me?

You can try this simple fix -

Quit DW.

Find this folder -

C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Macromedia\Dreamweaver
8\Configuration\SiteCache\<sitename>.dws

(these folders are normally hidden - you may have to use Explorer > Tools >
Folder Options to unhide them)

and delete it.

Restart DW. Works better?

Thanks for the response, although this did not work.

Do you have any other suggestions that can help me??

Are you sure you did what I suggested? This symptom is typically solved by
that fix. Try defining a NEW site that points into the same local root
folder. Connect with that site. Try again. Did that help?

If not, then please tell me what extensions you have installed.

I checked again and yea I had deleted the correct file. The problem is that we
stored all our html files and everything else needed (pics, buttons etc) on one
hard drive. When that became corrupt we had to transfer all our web files to a
new hard drive. Although I have linked the local info to include the new
location DW doesnt let me save any of the files I edit. Maybe this probelm is,
as you suggested, to do with the root folder? Thanks
