Horizontal scrollbar in frames
|

| Hi Folks:
I'm hoping someone can help me. I am making a site in frames... I know, I
know... :) The client wants it...
The site is at http://www.fresh-copy.com Please click on the about button.
When that page comes up, I am getting a horizontal scroll bar which I do not
want. I only have one table on that page and it's set at 550 pixels centered.
It shouldn't be too large for the screen...
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Linda

Make your browser viewport wider.

Use the following:
<frame src="main.html" name="mainFrame" scrolling="yes">

Not a solution, but a question.
How may clients come to a designer and specifically say "I want a site with
frames"?
Surely a client comes to a designer and says "this is what I want my site to
do, make it happen!" The designer can then use their best of their
abilities to design what they need.
I am just having a hard time wrapping my head around the concept that a
client specificially asks for frames when requesting work to be done. Not
because of any inherent hatred of frames or anything, just that clients in
my experience ask for what they want in concept terms, not in construction
terms.

| So, in your opinion, its the lack of skill with the designer that insists on
using frames?
In this particular situation the client wanted a lot of text which would
require scrolling. She also always wanted the navigation bar at the bottom and
the red border to always be present. She knew what she wanted and to
accomplish this, the only option 'in my humblie experience' was frames. There
is no way to give a client a lot of text on the top of the page AND allow for
the navigation to be present at all times. In all my years of designing I have
a total of 3 sites in frames. Sometimes it's just necessary for a client with
a clear vision. It's my job to "deliver"!

Sounds like a different question...
The skill is to make the client changes his mind ;)

Exactly.
A client may really really really want their front door on their house
mounted on the second floor. An architect can either deliver what the client
wants, or convince them that it's a really really bad idea.
Of course, a designer can't win over all clients, so once in a while, you
just gotta do what you gotta do.

True, but the OPs requirements didn't need frames. What was asked of the
designer didn't mean frames needed to be created. A well crafted template
file and a javascript preloader would have solved the problem and don't
without the need for frames.
I ain't having a go at the OP - there was a day when frames were the answer
for a lot of my design problems - but I certainly wouldn't be calling myself
a professional designer charging money for my services if all I could come
up with was a frames site.

| You 'ain't' having a 'go' at me?
I hope your sites are better than your English!

Oh dear, the spelling police are out.
If you would rather insult than actually address the question, then that's
fine by me.
