Author Folders Keep Opening

Hi,

There are two of us in this office that experience the same problem with MX
2004 and now with DW8.

In the files view our folders - especially the /images folder keeps popping
open. We pick on it, but it seems that we have to pick it 3 times before it
will close, and then if we open the /support folder, the /images folder pops
open again. It is driving us NUTS!

Anybody else see this behaviour?

Thx

yes, yes!! i've been having the same problem for a long time. first with dwmx
2004, now i have dw 8 and it's doing the same thing. there is one folder (not
necessarily the images folder) that opens up every time I open another folder.
it's been driving me nuts too...any solutions?

Hi there,

We are using a mapped drive to the subdirectory on our server. For example we
make v:\ into \\ServerName\Marketing\Websites\OurWebSite

If you do this, it makes the links and site work beautifully in IE for
testing. What it also seems to do is completely screw up Dreamweaver.

Are you using mapped drives?

This was interesting.

I found the key value for "Local Expanded Dirs", but it is now in a different
location. You will need to search for it in the registry, because it seems to
be under HKEY_USERS now.

I changed the value to 0 and the problem seems to be gone. Probably something
that will come back now and then.

Use the Edit -> Find option and search for "Local Expanded Dirs".

You should arrive at something like

HKEY_USER\ a big number string here\Software\macromedia\Common\8\Site\ ...

You are in the area.

They have put the information in a registry area that is unique for each user
instead of having it stored globally for the machine. If you still have 2004
installed, then the 8 above will probably say 2004. Either way you are close.
Look for the information Site0, Site1 etc. Each site you set up is numbered.

Scroll through the information in the site and you will see the root
directories for that site. That is how you can identify which site you are in.

If you are still stuck I can hook up to your machine and show you. We use an
advanced tech support tool for this purpose to help our customers. I'm at a
software company.
