I can crash DW8 regularly. All I do is open up the program, drag the files
palette off of the other palettes and click the menu bar button which shows
both remote and local files. Spinning ball...

Config is the following:
Powerbook 1Ghz
1GB RAM
100 GB HD (plenty of space)
No anti-virus software

My Activity Monitor shows DW8 is not responding and that it's using between
85-95% of the CPU.

A spinning ball is not a crash. It may be a lock-up, in which case you
can force-quit the program. But just for fun, try the steps above just
before dinner or some other time when you can just let the computer sit.
When you come back an hour or two later do you still have the SPOD
(Spinning Pie of Death)?
