Is it me or is the FTP client in DW8 extremely slow at connecting sometimes?

Not the fastest, thats for sure. However, even after using DW8 (win) for just day i can already say it is much more reliable than the FTP engine in MX 2004.. so i guess i can live with the slow speed.

Don't even get me started! Don't "live with the slow speed"...Just get WS_FTP
and see what a good FTP client can do. Macromedia had their chance to sort out
the FTP functionality with this "get the cash quick Adobe's coming!" release,
and failed....miserably.

My workflow at the moment is to use WS_FTP asll day. Then when I'm finished I
run a (painfully slow) "synchronise" command in DW and carry on from there. It
must save me an hour over the day :)

That's absurd. This release was planned before the buyout.

What difference does thast make? I'm sure it was, are you also in a position to
know what the release DATE was before the deal went through? I'm sure it was
planned, I just wonder if the date got brought forward. It would explain the
bug ridden half arsed upgrade that DW8 represents.

Ok ftp features in dw8 work better for me compared with those in dw7, still not
perfect, far from it, just like zarathustra_MX, I prefer to use an external ftp
client (FlashFXP) to put the work on the live server (from the testing server)
and I just never bother to use the synchronize feature (too slow).
Anyway, today I'm going to work with the good old dw7 since dw8 doesn't always
save the file on the testing server. I'm probably the only one to have noticed
this, but for me it's a real pain, tough, the only 'bad' thing in dw8, beside
the relatively high price for the few 'real' new features and upgrades.

Try changing the setting to "passive ftp", or deselecting it if its
selected.

I upgraded from DW MX (not 2004) . . . and had no problems with the MX
version of FTP, but constantly am waiting on v. 8 (win).

You want to send me your FTP info and let me see if I can determine
anything?
