Dreamweaver - Connected to server but no file upload

I just finished all my pages using dreamweaver. I have connectd to the sever
successfully but everytime i try and upload a file, the waiting for server bar
comes up, and then a message appears - An FTP error occured cannot put (the
file i tried to upload) Dreamweaver encountered an internal data error.
Please try the operation again. Not sure what the problem is. There is
currently a site up, but not the one that i created. I built a brand new site
using dreamweaver, does it have anything to do with the site that is currently
up there?
