Can I go ahead and uninstall MX 2004? There aren't any kind of shared preferences going on, are there?

You can uninstall the older one, but personally, I would keep both for
several weeks ... just in case, in a pinch, you need to do something whose
mechanism has changed in the new version and you're infamiliar with it. It
may save you time to quickly open your HTML document in the old version,
perform the edit, then open in the new again. I find, when upgrading
software, I usually forget one thing or another -- such as, "Oh yeah, there
was that Extension I installed for the old verson; where is it?" -- and it
often goes unnoticed for weeks. It doesn't hurt anything to have both
installed. Wean yourself over or go whole hog, either way ... but why not
keep the old one going just for a bit?

I have done so without any problems at all.
