Can't get mailto submit form to work
|

| :confused; I have created a mailto submit form in Dreamweaver 4 and it isn't
doing anything after the submit button is hit. It seems to try to connect, but
gives a connection failure message after a couple minutes. I'd be happy if
someone could look at the source code and see if they notice anything wrong.
The URL is: http://www.tasscosteel.com/TASSCOrequest.html
Could there be something I need to have the host (Network Solutions) do in
order for it to work?
Thanks.

Works ok here in Mac Mozilla/Safari/Firefox and PCIE6

| Seems to work for me too - brings up my email client viewing the page in
FFox.
I'd suggest adding validation to the form.

:D That's great to hear! Thanks for checking it. How can I add validation to
it? I thought you couldn't really do that with just a mailto form.
I am about to upgrade my whole system...new Mac, new software. I should be
able to do more with the new stuff.

| The mailto: depends on the end user's browser to do something with it. It is
not a very reliable way to get your quotes. You are better off posting to a
script (PHP, ASP, CGI, or similar). The script can then send an email or store
the data.

| If you are referring to posting to a script then yes, when the form posts to a
script, it will replace the current page with whatever your scripts outputs
back to the browser. In fact you have to put something there or the browser
will just be blank.
With the mailto method, you would have to use javascript for the thank you
message.
I hope this answers your question.

| Is it possible the client is confused.... Perhaps they're insisting they
want a "mailto form" when what they mean is that they want the form e-mailed
to them upon submission.
