Author DW8 - There it goes again!

Of to make another cup of tea while DW restarts. This time with a funky "While
executing receive arguments the following Javascript error...." basically it's
own editing clipboard crashed. Way to go!

This sort of stuff should be IRONED OUT IN BETA! There are numerous other
bugs, the FTP is still pathetic. Code colouring would have been cool. Why do
they never listen?

Does anyone else wonder if this release is simply a quick cash-in release
before the Adobe shake-up hits home? I mean do Macromedia pocket the profits
from this release or what? This one's so buggy, it makes you wonder if Adobe
put this release out in an endeveour to make GoLive users out of us. I actually
have work to do, if 8 keeps this up I'll have to go back to MX2004 just to meet
my deadlines.

Who are the beta testers? Monkeys?

You did decide to try out the Demo version first to see if it met your
requirements first - didn't you?

It is a well known fact with software from 'many' companies that major
releases are often buggy, and point releases are often more stable. Surely
this would be one reason to go with the trial for a couple of weeks, then
shell out your dosh for the upgrade, IF you are happy with it?

There do seem to be a few complaints since the release, yes, I sympathise
with you. Hence the reason why I have parted with the money as yet, until I
am definite that it a. meets my needs and b. suits my working environment.

If this happens to be reported by quite a few people and can be reproduced,
then how can it be called a bug... Different platforms, different
configurations.... who know what may be causing your problem. Can you
reproduce it ? Does it happen everytime you follow the same steps, then
yes, it should be reported.

Something being pathetic is not a bug :)

MM and Adobe are still separate entities at this point in time.

You can always volunteer to be a beta tester for the next
version.................

DW8 report

System; XP Pro (SP2), Athlon64 (3000), 1.5gig Ram, Radeon X800Pro etc

Instabilty: Not reproducable, but has crashed three times this morning.
Various times, various degrees of seriousness

Bugs: Blinking cursor during background file transfer and if you try to
"point-to-file" during this time it leaves ghostly trails all over the place;
cursors changing at various times into various things; my layout-tables keep
rendering as cells (that's a cracker).

Pathetic: Inability of Macromedia to produce decent FTP system despite many
examples of third party apps. No code colouring for printing despite constant
request by myself and others.
