Author DW8 CPU usage while idle (OS X)?
philby

Enquiring minds would like to know: why does DW8 use around 12% of my CPU just
sitting there in the background, not doing anything at all, with no page open?
DW MX 04 uses 0.1% CPU in the same context.
Is there any fancy stuff going on the background I know nothing of?

sitting at 0.0 - 0.1 for me.

I'm all eyes and ears Murray...

Do you mean there's stuff going on in the background, and thus a valid reason for DW8 sucking CPU cycles, or will there be no DW9? ;-)

I mean just keep plugging. You may find it a trivial observation that has
no effect on your workflow. Tell me how to check your CPU usage on the Mac
and I'll let you know what mine does....

Hi Murray,

From the command line, the "top" command should do the trick. Shows the top
10 or so apps that are running and what resources they're consuming.

Best regards,
Chris

My DW8 is using about 1-2% of my CPU according to that monitor (10.3.9/G4).
I guess I couldn't get torqued about that....

Dont have DW on my Mac so cannot comment directly. I do see however that the
app using most CPU is...Activity monitor! 2.5% Funny old world.

Hi Murray,

you can check processes' CPU activity, RAM usage and so on and so forth in the
Activity Monitor (/Applications/Utilities).
That said, it looks like DW has calmed itself down a bit here; it's chugging
along at below 3% CPU, which I find resonable.

The code windows new abilites are really nice, BTW, and CSS-based pages
display great so far.

And of course, there's that ;-)
