Author Can't add table next to my graphic
KevinC.

I'm trying to add a table to the right of a large graphic, and when I go to
layout view and try to draw one in I get the symbol of the zero with a slash
through it.

And when I try to do it in standard view the table drops below the graphic.
What am I doing wrong? thanks!

don't use layout mode.
try to align your graphic left, or your table right
graphic:
<img src="bla.gif" align="left">
table:
<table align="right">

Have one outer table with 2 columns. In one cell place your grahic, in the
other cell nest (insert) another table.

Place your cursor inside each cell in via the Property inspector, set the
vert. alignment to top.

or also click on the table that is holding your image and the text table and check that it has cellpadding set to "0"

thanks when I click on the graphic, I do see the drop-down. I select top, but
still see and inch of white above the image.
When I click in the right cell of text, the drop-down does not show in the
property inspector

May be an idea to post a link to your page - there must be something else
going on there.... also make sure you have set all borders / cellpadding to
0 in the PI... leaving it blank still gives a default padding.

could be other way around its so confusing, either way, cell on left has
graphic, I can't get rid of the inch of white above it.
text is on cell of right in middle, there is no offerering to get it to top
where I want it -- nothing about cell padding or borders.

When you say 'they' you mean the W3C in its formulation of the rules of
HTML?

Don't know Murray. I'm just flailing here.

But let me know if you have any ideas on this. Not easy these tables.
