The solution to the slow performance in DreamweaverMX all versions is very
simple:

Go into ALL SITES you have settings for and UNCHECK "refresh local file list
automatically".
Do this for 'local', 'remote', and 'testing'.

Try this before doing anything else and it will work 99.9% of the time.

Anyone who this works for now buy me a coke :)
