| i tried to set up my site as follows:
local info:
- site name: login
- Local root folder: d:\web\login\
remote info:
- Access: local/network
- Remote folder: c:\Inetpub\wwwroot\ login\
testing server:
- Server model: ASP VBscript
- Access: Local/network
- Remote folder: c:\Inetpub\wwwroot\ login\
- URL prefix: http://localhost/login/
I am using IIS v5.1, winxp sp2, dreamweaver mx 2004
The problem is that i was unable to test my URL (Notice: "dreamweaver cannot
use the prefix...") and thus couldn't pass phase 3 "set up the site's testing
server".
Anyone can help me to solve this problem? thank in advance.

Try changing this:
Local root folder: d:\web\login\
to this:
Local root folder: d:/web/login/
for all of your path names.

Make your testing server point into the local root folder (make sure you
have set up your web sharing with that 'login' alias for that folder).
Leave the remote info blank until you are ready to upload the site.

| I'm having the same exact problem. This is a TOTAL annoyance because being
unable to define the testing server means you can't do anything with databases
through Dreamweaver's behaviors.
In my situation, my development server is a NETBIOS name, not a URL. It's
also over HTTPS. But even trying to trick Dreamweaver into thinking it's a
real URL by typing in a full domain name in the URL area, it still doesn't
work. I can't think of anything else to make the darn testing server pass its
check.
Frustrated!

| FYI, installing the following quick fix helped resolve the issue:
http://www.macromedia.com/cfusion/k...cfm?id=tn_19515
I also had to be sure to use a full, non https URL for all the URL's. If I
used the NETBIOS name or HTTPS in the URL, the testing server would not pass.
