Author .new extension on server?

Once in a while, when I upload an edited file in Dreamweaver - I'll try and
view the new document through the browser...I see no change...even if I
manually click the PUT button, still no change...

When I log onto the server, and look at the file, it's there, but the edited
version I just tried to upload it right there too named "myfile.asp.new"

What's going on?

Thanks for any info!
