Author Editing a table in the library

Is there a way to edit tables in the library? In edit mode its not allowing me edit the table structure or contents.

An HTML table? Sure. Show me the markup in the library item and tell me
what you are trying to do, please.

It will let me edit the HTML code, but in the design view its greyed out. It won't let me select inside it.
