Author Can't rename folder

Running DW MX 2004 under WinXP Pro. When I try to rename a folder in a site, I
get an error message that a folder with that name already exists -- but it
doesn't! I've tried several new names, all with the same resulting error
message. I closed DW and re-opened it, but I get the same result. Any
suggestions?

Try recreating your site cache, this usually works for me.

Site --> Advanced --> Recreate Site Cache

Also, this can mean that you have a file open from within that folder,
either in DW or in some other program.

Thanks for the suggestions. Recreating the site cache didn't correct the problem. I do not have any of the files or folders open in DW or any other program. Any other suggestions?

Close out of your other programs.

Oh, damn! I'd just restarted the PC about 30 minutes before the problem started
-- but on the "off chance" that it might be a Windows glitch, I re-restarted
Windows -- and the problem is solved. Sorry I didn't try that first. How
Windows got screwed up in 30 minutes is beyond me... But I appreciate your
assistance! I'm going to write on the whiteboard "When there's a problem,
always restart Windows first!" about a hundred times.
