check-out system question

| My colleague charged me a conundrum yesterday:
We've been trying to use the check-in/check-out sytem for editing our
webpages, in preparation (hopefully) for starting some other people using
Contribute for updates.
Here's the rub: Let's say that I check out a file, do some work and save it
locally. Assume that I do not want to publish this file until my colleague also
does some work on it. How can my colleague access the file if I have it
checked-out? Is this one of those situations where it really doesn't matter who
has the file "checked-out", it is still editable by anyone with access?
Thanks for thoughts,
Ted

You would have to check the file back in for your colleague to check it out
for his changes. If you don't want it yet visible, don't link to it from
your site until you're ready.
Pete.
