Author .new file ext in dw ftp

I'm having strange problems with .new files being created on the server, when I
try to update a file. I haven't been able to find any documentation but from
the DW FTP log it looks like DW uploads the file with a .new extension, and
then renames the files after updating the notes and backup versions. Can anyone
corroborate this with experience or a technote? The really strange part is it
only happens in certain directories? Which leads me to believe it?s a
permission issue on the server, but checking permissions and even deleting and
recreating the directory does not solve the problem. Has anyone experienced
anything like this? Thanks Rob

does this site have Contribute users? Or did you set up as a Contribute site
using mx version 6?

Yes, no users but it has been set up for use with Contribute. Using DW MX 7 and Contibute 2.
We've decided not to use Contribute, should I uninstall and reconfig.

I'm having the same problem with DreamWeaver MX 2004! I have a Contribute 3.1
site that I set up through DW. Is there a solution? Can I use DW and
Contribute on the same machine?

Thanks much,
Emily

I'm not sure I understand the problem. This is how CT saves the rollback
versions of the files. It's part of how CT works. Why is it a problem for
you?

Certainly you can use DW and CT on the same machine....
