Hi,

How do you convert an .asp coded site to .html. We've found out it is supposedly cheaper for a server to host .html as opposed to .asp.

What is the difference anyway?

Thanks!

If you don't know the difference- have to ask-

Do the pages contain ASP code? Do you know asp?

If you change the page from .asp to .html then all the ASP coding will cease to
work, and you will see all the coding in the page, i.e everything within the <%
%> tags

Standard hosting can be cheaper then Microsoft IIS based hosting, as normally
it runs on Linux servers which is cheaper to run, especially as it is normally
a lot more secure and there are not the setup costs that are incurred with
Microsoft software.

If you wishing to still using dynamic code, then you can change to PHP using
the .html suffix, but you will have to change all the ASP code to PHP.

If you have no need of the ASP code, then you could simply Save as, rename to
page.html and strip out the ASP code.

You can run ASP pages on Linux hosting if you host runs ChiliSoft, so could
have 'cheaper' hosting and still retain your ASP pages.

Big, huge difference. .asp pages use ASP, code which is processed on the
server, and usually are pulling data from a database.

It's usually pretty inexpensive to get ASP hosting. In any case, you're
probably better off getting ASP hosting than trying to somehow convert the
site to static HTML pages.
