Author layers with browser problems

New to CSS.
Very new to JavaScript.
Trying to create a DHTML page and having trouble with layers showing up in
browsers other than IE.
This page is still in process; Show/Hide function is not completely assigned
to all layers, links are not connected etc.
My concern is it all disappears in various browsers.
(Mozilla,Firefox,Camino,?Opera)
What am I doing wrong?
ANY help would be much appreciated!
Thanks, Jan

I don't have a lot of time to look at your page right now but I suggest
you validate your CSS and fix the many errors that are occurring, add a
doc type to your page, and then validate your HTML.

138K for this page? <ouch>

Seems like I've seen this page before - have you posted it here, or did you
buy this template? I'm sure it's been here at least once before....

Anyhow, I see you are extensively using negative z-indices. That's not
going to work! Why are you using them?

Hi, Murray,
Yes, I've posted this page before, but I've since removed the other "color
blobs"!
Remember me?

What a learning curve for me!

I'm still trying to learn how to streamline this beast!
I'll fix the negative z-index issues. (still experimenting with stacking order
for the best way to hide some of the layers without generating 'books' of code
in the process)

I've heard of nested layers which might be the answer, but don't they come
with lack of browser support, too?

Travis mentioned many CSS errors occuring.
Where do I go to validate the CSS and correct the errors?

I guess I'll also have to understand the importance of DOCTYPE somewhere, too.

You guys are brilliant - thanks so much for all the help!

Well the page went into a continuous loop and I needed some sort of plug in
to see the rest of the page :\ Win xp pro Firefox.

By golly, I think I've finally got it!

I've validated the CSS style sheet, added the doc type,
filled in the ShowHide layers values - so far, so good.

Now I'm working on connecting the links, and adjusting the menus, etc. (I'll
probably be back, but for now, I'm very relieved to see it live in
Firefox,Camino, and Safari.)

Thanks so much!

You've all been a great help.

Jan
