| I have little to no database expierence and have gone throught books on
how
to use db with dreamweaver locally. That works fine, when I try to
connect
with my server I can't figure out what to do. My host support asp and
php
and I am using dreamweaver mx2004, I would like to be able to create
recordsets and bindings using dw features instead of learning how to
hand
code everything... how would I go about connecting an access database
to
dreamweaver ...
any help is much appreciated!!!

Hello,
As long as you are not suffering from the Win XP sp2 problem (Fixed with an
add-in for the Extension Manager) you may find that it is quite easy to
connect to a database (It's the security settings that can throw you). I am
sure that I could go all the way through the process but here is the book
you need!!
http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos...0976919-5629260
For now though:
1 Create a page within DW 2004 that uses asp.net vb
2 Open the databases panel (Windows, databases)
3 Click the + symbol. Choose OLE DB
4 Type a connection name
5 Click Build
6 Provider, choose Microsoft Jet 4.0 OLE DB
7 Next.... select the location of your DB. It should be in your wwwroot
folder etc
8 Click Test
9 Click Ok.
Have you installed .net, do you want to use .net?
