Converting from Access to SQL Server - Question
| I have a site that is using access for it's database. I want to upgrade to SQL Server.
When I use the upsize wizard in Access to convert the database, it wants to know what SQL Server I would like to use for the database, plus the login and password. I assume it wants to know what version. I don't have SQL Server. I was hoping to use Access as the front end...do a conversion using the wizard and then upload the SQL Server to my host that supports SQL Server.
Do I have to have SQL Server installed on my computer to complete the upsizing? I can't seem to get past this screen. Does anybody know about this?
Any help would be appreciated...

| Have you tried creating an Access Project in Access to manage it? I think you can do it that way ..

| A SQL server database is not like an Access database. You can't create one on your system, then upload it. It needs to be created where it will live. If you want a production and a test database, then it will have to be created twice (you can save the scripts from all the tables, procedures, etc, then run them on another server to get an identical database). You cannot create one on your computer without the SQL Server engine installed. You can, however, create it directly on your host.
