When I choose a background image rather than a straight color for either a page
or cell in a table the preview in Firefox the image background is displayed.
IE6 fails to display it. Any suggestions for why?

How are you displaying the background - using css or via the page
properties.

for your table cell is it applied to the <tr> or <td> tag?
