creating email newsletters

| I want to be able to create an email newsletter like the ones I receive that
actually have links in them that readers can click on and link to longer
versions of articles that appear on a website.
I know how to insert an image into an email. But these newsletters seem as if
they have html pages inserted in the email, or governing how they appear in the
the mail window of the recipient. I believe I have heard if you can insert any
images, but that it is the html that is "creating" what the recipient sees,
that images must be on an external server.
Can i create one of these email newsletters myself or is my only option to use
one of these services that you subscribe to and who provide templates for the
newsletters? Can you suggest any turorials, books or websites?
Many thanks in advance,
Karen Fredericks

| there are software programs, but u get what u pay for... i use an inexpensive
one called Mail Them Pro from Kadmy. Have used it for years to manage about a
3,000 opt in mailing list and it is sufficient for my needs - it handles
bounces, subscribes, removes, etc. you can send either text of html or both.
i use dw to create the newletter layout, then copy and paste into the html
message to be sent, and create a text version as well. to show images, you
attach and change your href to "cid: image name". Use to be it was sent as an
actual attachment, but now it just shows in the email.
