Author Coorect folder location for index.html

In setting up websites on my local drive I have the following folder setup with
all sites and corresponding folders within a folder called DWsites.

So, it's my Harddrive, then
DWsites ---> main DW site projects folder
sitea --->a website folder (the root)
html ----> a folder within siteA folder that contains all web pages
including index.html
images -> a folder within siteA folder that contains image files

The question is there any problem with placing index.html in the folder "html"
which is in the siteA folder?
Or should I place index.html it at the top of the folder stack just within the
main "sitA" folder? If so, for organization sake I would put all the other web
pages in folder HTML.

My concern is will I have a remore server problem if index.htm is not in the
root folder (as in finding it)?

Thanks for any and all feedback.

Probably. What do you want to put in the root folder of the website?

That's where it's supposed to be. Don't think of an 'index.html' only as
the homepage of a website, but of a default document in a folder. There
_must_ be something in the website's root folder.

This would mean that you always have a '/html' in the URL, which is
redundant and completely useless. Keep all unnecessary informations out
of the URLs.

Yep. And more.
