posted that message without finshing!!!! yeah, i am trying to connect to my
database via dreamweaver but i'm having problems because my database is housed
on a different server than my REMOTE folders. so, when i set up TESTING SERVER
in dreamweaver it copies all the remote FTP details across which are wrong.
When i change them it tells me it can't connect to the server. This means which
i try to CONNECT TO mysql CONNECTION it doesn't work. Any ideas? Cheers

hi again I have done what you said and dreamweaver starts to connect but then
brings up an error message saying connection probs, 1) There is no testing
server running on the server machine 2) Something alone the line of .......the
root folder dosesn't map back to the mydomain.com/web/script,,,,,,,,,,,, Any
ideas?

you should also keep in mind, some hosting providers don't allow you to use
their servers as a testing server and block this activity. my hosting provider
does this, and at times it's a bit annoying, but for security reasons for win
server, they feel it's necessary. it's possible your host for this php/mysql
site is doing the same. worth checking into before you beat your brains trying
to figure it out

in the URL Prefix i put the domain name that goes to my website. In fact i
always built in the Advance tab but i think the last person who posted,
jsteinmann, may be correct in thinking that it is my web hosting providers that
need to give me the information. I have done eveything i can think of plus the
stuff you people have suggested, but still it tells me there is no testing
server running on the server machine and Something alone the line of .......the
root folder dosesn't map back to the mydomain.com/web/script,,,,,,,,,,,,
Strange I will carrying on trying because the offices where i am hosted are
close :( Fustrating Thanks for you help all

oh Jsteinmann, if my web provider is blocking my php/mysql is the only option to move providers?

for me, i use seperate servers for the site, databse, mail, and my host blocks
me from using their servers as a testing server. if your host is doing this,
which is a slim possibility, then it could be the problem. im not saying it
is, but you might want to double check with them to make sure

yes you are correct. On the remote folder my website folders go into a /web
folder. If i go up one level into the /web folder i see the following folders
web users logs Do you think i need to direct the mysql connection to one of
these top folders?

man, it works!!!!!! I went into the TESTING SERVER category and deleted the
/web located in the Host Director space. I then went to the URL PREFIX and
deleted the /web so i just had www.mydomain.co.uk/ i then went to MYSQL
CONNECTION and entered the detail then BINGO - it connected!!! So i needed to
make my domain the top!!! Fantastic Man, thank you so much for all your help.
