Author FTP Errors

I sure could use some help here. I recently bought some space on a server at
ipowerweb for a site I want to put up with my mac but for whatever reason I
can't get in to the site via Dreamweaver MX. I can access it via fetch.
Everytime I try I get a "Can't Connect FTP error message" .

I tried the tech support at ipower but they can't fix it and suggested I need
someone who knows the program better than either they do or I do.

I can connect to my current server (a different one), and to other sites I've
helped with, just not to the ipower one. I've tried passive and active FTP,
turning on and off the firewall, specifying the port, and accessing via IP
number as well as by name but nothing works.

Another friend who is a professional designer couldn't log into either from
MX. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

Jon

no idea on if the info in the links at the right is correct- there is lousy
javascript and frames and popup nonsense so i can't scroll the linked pages
to read them..

another thing to check, is to enable "passive" ftp in your site definition,
if you have a local firewall.

I tried that, and in truth I'm just puzzled here. Nothing I have done seems to work.

Why are you using RDS?

Are you trying to edit a site that is also being maintained with FP?

(please keep your posts under this thread, not the one on the appdev forum)

What do you have in the FTP host field of your site definition?

What do you have in the Host Directory field?

What is the exact error message?
