| Hi, thanks for helping me. Someone here at work designed an entire web page layout in Publisher. Can I open that an Dreamweaver? If so, I haven't figured out how.

| First off... walk over to that person and smack them in the back of the
head!
You can open Publisher source files in DW, but all you see is the encoding.
Totally useless. You can however, save the file as HTML from Publisher.
After you do this, you may want to walk back over to your co-worker and give
them another smack, as it creates a mess of code no sane person would want
to go near!

| I've seen the unholy mess that Publisher spits (or pukes) out. The
reasonable answer to you question is, unfortunately, no. You *can* open a
Publisher HTML doc in Dreamweaver but working with the mess is an entirely
different matter.
Truthfully it would be quicker to start from scratch. Sorry.

| It's just HTML, so yes. But wear dark glasses. And Dreamweaver is likely
to explode! Publisher writes the nastiest HTML I've seen next to Net
Objects Fusion....

| I'm a bit of a pacifist, but I'd agree with you that in this instance,
violence is called for.

| Print it out on paper.
Use it as a guide to build a real page. It would be quicker.
You can't open a publisher native document in dw.
You can export it in Publisher as html but it's not worth the effort.

| Murray, the proper way to pronounce that, if you *must* speak the words, is
Net Rejects Confusion.

| Here's something that may help you get things moving more quickly...
1. open the Publisher HTML document in IE.
2. do a screen capture of it
3. open the screen capture in Fireworks and slice it up to get the images
you may need in Dreamweaver
4. rebuild the page in Dreamweaver.
5. open the Publisher HTML document in IE, Then select/copy the text and
paste it into Dreamweaver as you rebuild the page so you wont have to spend
time retyping it.
I guarantee you this will be quicker and less painful in the long run than
trying to mess with the Publisher generated HTML docs.
Hope this helps...

| "You can't open a publisher native document in dw."
I just did... but like I said before, all that displays is the encoding. It
is like opening a Word doc in Notepad...
