Alt with a sound file

| I am working on a web site and I want to have a rollover button linking to an
email address as well as a sound file.
Example. 1st button shows the word Teacher in English. 2nd button shows the
work Teacher in another language. The button is linked to an email address.
Can I also attach a sound file of a person speaking the word when the curser is
rolled over the button? Any help would be appreciated even if the answer is no
so that I can stop trying. Thanks:confused;:cool;:confused;

It is possible, http://voiceoftheweb.com/
but I am not sure about usability and Xbrowser issues.
I may be wrong but I assume you are using IE as you mention the alt
attribute. If you are using alt to produce the tooltip type of effect, the
text does not appear in other browsers. The text is meant to be read by
screenreaders etc.
You should consider using the title attribute:
<a href="mailto:joe@bloggs.com" title="E-mail Joe">E-mail Joe</a>
:-( ...but if the sound effect is controlled by javascript you may have
problems with the title attribute.
If this has left you even more confused, I apologise but hang in there.
The real brains always manage to make things clearer.

The only reliable way to do this crossbrowser is to make the button with
sound in Flash. But the 4-5% that do not have flash installed, will of
course not see your buttons...
Actually: You have about 40-50Kb to play with when making a page. Why on
earth adding sound when you instead can add content that makes the page
useful?
