Batch Template Removal

| My company is in the process of switching over from a static website to a
content management system. We have around 1,500 html-based pages to migrate to
the new site. Most of these pages are based on templates. Is there a quick
way to strip the content out of these pages abnd lose all of the template info?
Many thanks.

| is it dw MX or MX 2004?
Look under Modify-->Templates-->Export without Markup.
That will export to a new folder you choose, with no template html comments.
If you want something different, like just having the contents of the
Editable Areas with no other stuff, look into the help files for
File-->Export-->Export template data as xml
whichever way you try, do backups of the site folder before doing
non-reversible choices.

....but if the OP wants to; quote
strip the *content* out of these pages *and* lose all of the template info
end quote;
what is going to be left? A load of meta tag data referring to non-existent
content?

That's not what will result.
Export Templates without Markup will simply strip the template html
comments, leaving the content intact.
File-->Export Templates as XML will export the contents of the editable
regions as XML statements. Those could then be transformed and plugged into
the db. Depending on what's in the template for editable regions and what
they are used for- this would be the way to go because it keeps the content
tied to it's editable region name for further sorting later.

That makes more sense but the question does read a touch enigmatically.
My first thought when I read it was FDISK, but maybe that was a touch OTT
:-)
