Author Limit number of text input in a textfield

Due to limited display spacing, I wanna set a maximum of 50 characters to be input in a textfield. How can I do it? Please let me know. Thanks in advance!

Enter "50" in the property inspector field titled: MaxChars

In code view:
<input name="textfield" type="text" size="20" maxlength="50">
