Author File Panel keeps resetting back to remote view after I selected testing server

Since I updated to DW MX 2004 I am having a problem with the upload (put)
function. I always select the 'testing server' view when first starting DW
and double-check that the testing server has been selected by expanding to
the side-by-side view. My testing server (localhost) is on my Windows XP Pro
path C:\inetpub/wwwroot/. The first time I 'put' or upload a file it is
uploaded correctly to the testing server. But after that first time, every
time I subsequently do an 'upload' using <ctl> <shift> 'M', instead of
uploading (putting) my file to the testing server, it goes to the remote
server. I have searched Macromedia's FAQs, books I have on Dreamweaver and
all the help sources I can think of. It seems to me that there must be a
default or preference setting or options that dictates what the 'default'
site for uploads (puts) is - but I haven't been able to find it. It has been
absolutely frustrating. Not only because I don't realize it at first and
keep thinking my changes didn't work, but, because the remote site now has
an untested or unintended page(s), so I have to go to a backup version on my
PC to upload the original files to the remote site.

Can anyone help?
