Huh? How do you know this? In what ways is it picky?

Defining a local site can be as simple as filling in two fields in the
site's definition (name and path to local root). What's the problem there?
And it's always best to start by defining a local site.

| ok, thanks. what i meant was when i first started using DW, i just started
designing. i didnt realize that when you don't set up a local site in site
mgmt, the links won't work until you set it up.
this is what i meant. but anyway, i do understand better now that it's
important to just go ahead and set up the local site first, including your root
folder and so on. is this what you do when you create a site from scratch?
thanks.
