Dreamweaver 4 crashes upon start-up

| Just within the last few days, my Dreamweaver 4 program will not start up.
After trying to start the program, it tries to loads but quickly pops up a
window saying:
"Dreamweaver has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for
the inconvenience."
If I click on the information button, it says:
"AppName: dreamweaver.exe AppVer: 4.0.1064.0 ModName: mmnotes.dll
ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 0000c4bf"
I am running Windows XP. The program has worked fine for two years, until
just recently. I have unistalled the program and reinstalled it. Once I
reinstall it, the program will load. But, once I try to create my site (using
ftp), it crashes again. At that time, it won't load up anymore.
The only way I can get the program to load is to right-click the icon and
choose "run as" then "current user" with the protect my computer box checked.
But, if I try to create my site, it will again crash.
I haven't done anything new to my computer to warrant this change in the
program's behavior. The only thing I have done recently is to download a trial
version of Fireworks. But, Dreamweaver still worked just fine for at least a
week before the problem began.
Please help! I couldn't get anyone to help over the phone.

| to rule something in or out-
are you sharing any sites with MX 2004 or Contribute users?
In other words, are you connecting to a remote site, that also has people
connecting and working on them with 2004 or Contribute?
