How do you create a scrollable area in the centre of a page. Not for visiters to type in, like a form)

One way would be to use an iframe (inline frame).

Dreamweaver only partially supports them. They can't be inserted in Design
View and they don't display in Design View. They work just like regular
frames but you can put just one anywhere on your page without haveing to
create the entire page in frames.

You can place an iframe inside a table cell or CSS layer.

To create an iframe in Dreamweaver -

Create the page that will hold the main layout, determining where you want
the iframe to appear.

Create a second document that will be viewed inside the iframe, just like
with a regular frame. If the second document doesn't completely fit in the
iframe it will scroll.

In your main document, place the insertion point where the iframe will go.

Choose Insert>Tag to access the Tag Chooser.

From the HTML/Page Elements/General category.

Choose iframe and click Insert

The Edit Tag box opens. In the General category set your properties.

Click OK ad then Close.

Remember, the iframe won't show in Design View but if you switch to Code
View you'll see the code.

Preview the site in your browser and the iframe, with the second page inside
it, will appear.

This was taked from the book "Macromedia Dreamweaver MX 2004 Demystified" by
Laura Gutman. It's a very helpful book!

I didn't mean to say that you could put only one on a page. You can put one
or as many as you like.

You can also do this with no javascript if older browser support is not
needed.

You can also check out iFrames. iFrames do not appear in Netscape 4.
