changing thousands of file names

| I have about 19,000 + file in one of my folders for one of my site and I need
to reduce the size si I thought I would shorten the file names as they are
long. All the file names are the same save for a 6 digit number within each
file. Does any know how I could change all these file name at once? I am using
a windows machine with XP pro on it. I thought maybe I could do while my fills
were in DW/MX2004
Thanks

Can't do that with DW. You can use a program to do it. I use a program
called SIREN.EXE
It's not the most intuitive app, but it allows for searching with Regular
Expressions to do something like you're looking for.

| I'll try Siren as well - but, what's the best way to also create content on the
page I rename that is based on the spreadsheet data?
For example, the spreadsheet is as follows...
row 1fields: joel, jones, funnny
row 2 fields: tom, smith, boring
I want to rename file 1 to be joel.htm and the body to have joel, jones, and
funny within the body where I declare. And file 2 would be renamed tom.htm
with content of smith and boring in the body.
