80004005-Operation must use an updateable query HELP

| Hi Everyone,
I tried to go to microsoft.public.inetserver.iis forum to ask this
question but I can't seem to update beyond August 17th nor can I post a new
message. So, having said that, I'm getting the following error...
Microsoft JET Database Engine error '80004005'
Operation must use an updateable query.
/index2.asp, line 115
After looking at MSDN's article at
http://support.microsoft.com/defaul...b;EN-US;q175168 and
Macromedia's tech note at
http://www.macromedia.com/support/d...4005update.htm,
the only thing that applies is that my database itself does NOT sit in the
inetpub\wwwroot directory. I don't want it there. I've used a virtual root
that points to a different hard drive and folder set on my server. In the
Macromedia tech note, it lists this as a problem. I can't believe that it
order for us to use something like Microsoft Access, that you have to put it
in inetpub directory only. Is this absolutely correct? Do I need to move my
database, set the correct permissions for that folder and redo my connection
string? Thanks Rich

| It is a permissions error, which basically means that the anoymous web
visitor does not have write access to the folder. The permissions need to be
set on the security tab in Windows Explorer Not IIS.

| Thanks Paul but this did not solve the problem. I set both the database and
www folders to allow read and write abilities and it still generates an
error. Go to www.thrha.org and try to subscribe down on the lower left side
for the news letter. You'll see what I mean. Thanks Rich

| Do this:
Close Dreamweaver.
Give the folder containing the database read/write permissions to the IUSR
user.
Go to IIS, right click on local computer, go to all tasks - restart IIS.
After IIS restarts, try your form and see if it works.
