I recently lost my nested templates and found a good article for recovery here:

http://dreamweavermx-templates.com/...tutrecover4.cfm

When I get to step 5 and save the document as template into the root directory
and 'Templates' folder, I am not able to remove the <!-- #Begin
Template...etc... --> instruction. I think this might be due to the fact that I
am dealing with nested templates?

This is what my code looks like:
<!-- InstanceBegin template="/Templates/SPL_pagename3.dwt"
codeOutsideHTMLIsLocked="false" -->

If you would like to see the whole source code please look at
http://www.saddlepeaklodge.com to view the source.

I am certain there is a way to recover my templates - thank you for your
pointers in advance.

The tutorial was written for recovering a DW4/UD4 markup template not a
DMX/DMX2004 markup template.
In addition, you may NOT be able to recover some functionality on the page
since I cannot know how the parameters called page_name, or message were
used. That's unfortunate. By converting this page back to a template and
saving it in your site, you will overwrite those regions on all pages with
unpleasant results.

How did you happen to lose the templates?

And by the way, there was no indication on your linked page that this was a
nested template.

Murray:
The MoBo on my laptop fried and I lost all local data. The dummy I am I had
everything server side EXCEPT the Templates directory. I was able to recover
the site from my web server but of course the templates are history.

I had one master template and then had nested templates for the
subdirectories, i.e. dinner, brunch, gift certificates etc. The nested
templates had the correct images, page descriptions etc. etc.... From the sound
of you it does not look promising without some major re-work on my end :(

Was the page you linked a child of a nested template? It sure didn't look
like it.

If you will send me an email I will reply with my phone and you can call to
discuss this if you'd like.

Murray!
Thank you so much for your time this morning on the phone. You set me on the
correct path and I am happy to report that I was able to backtrack to the
layout of the original master template. Now it is simply a matter of
re-creating the nested templates. But with your advise I am able to do so. You
are the best!

Gerhard:

Best of luck with this! After our conversation, I came away with the
distinct impression that your task was do-able. I'm happy to hear that you
have made so much progress!

Post here with any hurdles you encounter!
