| Hi I have made the site www.satco.net.
The site loads very slow even though I have tried with optimizing pics and
css. When I use css and replace all pics and insert them as backgrund pics
instead the load counter in DW mx 04 says it should load within 1 to 2 sec. but
it takes forever?
WHat iswrong with the page and what can I do to make i load faster as it is??
THanks in advance

| Dreamweaver's "popup menus" behaviours arn't exactly the most bandwidth friendly
Plus they're not very accessable either
I recommend using a <div> and some very simple javascript to show or hide the
<div> according to if the mouse is over the menu option or not, that can be
accomplished in a few lines, not a few hundred KB
Of course, I'd be using CSS to do the same, but then I expect your audience
will be IE users, so scratch that one then :)

BINGO. Read Dan's post again. These menus are one of the largest culprit.

The huge script you have at http://www.satco.net/mm_menu.js is causing
this, plus the smaller in the head section of the page. Toss that script
right away and go e.g. to
http://projectseven.com/tutorials/n..._hide/index.htm and
learn how to do sleek stuff.
As for the images, try to avoid using gradient colors, at least not that
much. Create the brown background in html, don't use that image (which,
by the way, isn't a solid color but is "rasterized" in a peculiar way
that'll cost you dearly in Kb). Don't use images for the texts (timber,
herbs, extracts,....Product Guide, etc), only for the logo.
Good luck!
