Author upload site problem

dreamweaver successfully connects to my website.....then i press the "up arrow"
to upload the site.. BUT after that is done it is not reflected online.

what am i missing....i'm a bit of a noob.

ps...i've tried uploading my design using another program and it works
fine....so i'm guessing it's something with DW.

1. Are you sure DW connects to correct directory?
2. After clicking the "up" arrow, do you get a window that tells that
files are being uploaded?

dan,

i was instructed to leave my "host directory" blank.. it seems to connect
correctly and send files as well. BUT when i FTP my site to check....THERE ARE
NO FILES LISTED???

crazy thing is......when i upload using another design program called
WEBSTUDIO.....everything works fine....and in fact it uploads my DW files as
well!!!!!....isn't that odd?

i've checked with my server people.....they're scratching their heads as well.

once again ....i'm sorta noob at all this.....but every single step that i
take with DW has been nothing but problematic...WASSUP???

murray thanks for the reply.......once again i'm a noob

i made a correction on my last post. i'll state it again. everything DOES seem
to upload correctly. i check my FTP and all files are there.....but nothing
happens online.

i'm beginning to think maybe it's an incredibily basic step that i'm leaving
out....maybe like converting everything to something before upload??
or.....what i don't know. my design as of now is JUST ONE GRAPHIC PAGE.

thanks for your help.........arrrrghhh!!

When you connect with a blank host directory, you see NO files or folders
listed in the remote file list?

What is the site's domain?

After you have connected, can you see the files located on the remote
server when viewing in the ftp pane? If so, are you *sure* you are
looking at the remote server files, and not the local?
What is the URL, and if we look it up, can you specify what the new file
will look like, i.e. any particular element that can identify the page
as your latest?
You say you can upload with another app without problems. How can you
tell that the same (?) files aren't uploaded with DW?
Do you have a folder named "public_html" on the remote server?
Have you cleared your browser's cache before trying to look up the file
after uploaded with DW?

Corrections to previous posts don't propagate forwards into the NNTP forums.
That's where most of the answers come from. If you want to make a
correction, just add another post to the thread.

What is the name of the file you want to be shown when I browse to your
domain?

uploading.....am i suppose to convert my design into a certain format or
something????

Your "aaargh" is nothing to the "AAAARGH" I can produce when someone
*never* reply to specific questions:
Murray have asked you questions and I have asked you questions. Why not
try to answer them??????????

i thought i've been answering questions properly, forgive me if i haven't. I'M
VERY NEW TO ALL THIS and sometimes i don't understand the terminology that's
being asked????....i appreciate everyone's help.....what would i do without u
guys!

MURRAY: the file name is either "test" or "untitiled"

DAN: 1. if by remote server you're talking about the online guys who are
hosting my website....then your answer is YES i can see the files i uploaded
via FTP.
i thought i gave u the URL.....www.brianpark.org
and no i do not have a folder named "public"

let me know if my answers don't make sense

Murray *TMM*

http://brianpark.org/test.htm

There's your page.

You need to ask your host what their default filename is, and rename
test.htm to whatever the default name is - often it's index.htm(l) or
default.htm(l), or something.

Their FTP instructions recommend default.html
