Author DW MX - can't change views - can't view by "Date Modified"

i have two questions i was hoping someone could answer:

1- I do not have the option of viewing my workspace as DW 4 - which i really
want - as is shown on the following page:

http://www.macromedia.com/support/d...x_workspace.htm

I only have the options of "Designer" or "Coder". I really want to view my
workspace with both the local folder and remote folder side-by-side, the way
it was in DW 4. i really hate it when companies completely overhaul the
workspace in a program when they do an upgrade - it is ridiculous to have to
relearn a program after an upgrade. at this time, i do not like DW MX at
all.

2- How can i change the "View By" status in the local folder window? it used
to show file size, date created, date modified, etc., but it isn't there in
MX. This is also ridiculous, because one can work much faster by viewing as
"Date Modified" because the last file one worked on is at the top and one
can quickly click on it to upload it.

thanks anyone for any help.

and my review of MX is still not good, because they moved everything around!
i hate it when they do that. look at photoshop - i have been using it since
Photoshop 2.5, and now am using Photoshop CS (8.0), and although many
features have been added and streamlined - the interface is predominately
the same - that's 11 years without having to completely overhaul the
workspace - Macromedia could learn something from this approach.

That option is only available in DMX on the PC as I recall. You would get
at it under EDIT | Preferences > General > Change Workspace.

Which version of DMX are you using? It sounds like you may be using
DMX2004, where that option is no longer available.

Expand the Files Panel to fullscreen and click on a column header to sort by
any column value shown. When you minimize again, the sort will be retained.

DMX2004 - Version 7.1
so that option is no longer available? is there any other way to customize
DMX2004 so that I can view the local folder and remote folder at the same
time?

"expand" on the files column did let me access the "Date Modified" - I also
noticed that while in this expanded mode, one does get to view the local and
remote at the same time, but when one opens a file, it goes back to the
other view. now that i have the modified, is there any way to keep it
expanded and then view the files as a floating window?

your help is much appreciated - thank you very much.

I am not aware of any way to do this - except on the Mac. I have never
really found this to be a problem, however....
