| Diagnosing such problems is very hard without complete information about
your computer and its operating environment. Can you please tell me -
0. What is your version of Dreamweaver? And when you right click on the DW
executable (dreamweaver.exe), then select Properties > Version, what is the
version number you see in the properties panel?
1. What is your OS?
2. What is your AntiVirus?
3. Is your AntiVirus doing realtime protection?
4. What is your Firewall?
5. What other background programs are running?
6. What Dreamweaver extensions do you have installed?
7. Are you *running* DMX from a network shared drive?
8. Where are your 'local' files? Are they on a network shared drive?
9. Have you ever been able to run DMX or is this a recent failure?
10. Does this only seem to happen with certain files/sites?
11. Does recreating the site cache (SITE | Recreate Site Cache) help?
12. Are you using *any* OS-improving utilities like "TweakUI" for example?
13. Are you logging on as an ADMINISTRATOR, or do you have admin
privileges?

0. What is your version of Dreamweaver? And when you right click on the DW

7.0.1.2181
1. What is your OS?
Windows XP Home 2002, Service Pack 1. Dell P4 2.66ghz 512mb.
2. What is your AntiVirus?
McAfee Virus Scan build: 8.0.41 engine version: 4.3.20
3. Is your AntiVirus doing realtime protection?
yes, as far as i know
4. What is your Firewall?
local network linux firewall that does not block ftp access (i can connect to
the same sites that i'm trying to add to DMX with normal ftp programs such as
CoffeeCup Direct Ftp, and secure apps like WinSCP3)
5. What other background programs are running?
a popup blocker, nothing else.
6. What Dreamweaver extensions do you have installed?
nothing more than the default full installation.
7. Are you *running* DMX from a network shared drive?
no.
8. Where are your 'local' files? Are they on a network shared drive?
local disk, but i've never gotten any added sites to sync, so this is moot.
9. Have you ever been able to run DMX or is this a recent failure?
yes. i can run DMX with only one of the sites confugured, which is a site with
the following definition:
local root: \\local_share\local_drive\public_html
remote access: ftp
remote host: stage.mydomain.com
remote host dir: public_html/
remote use_sftp: on
testing server model: phpmysql
testing access: ftp
testing host: stage.mydomain.com
testing host dir: incoming/public_html/
testing use_sftp: on
cloaking: on
design notes: on
10. Does this only seem to happen with certain files/sites?
only with FTP sites, or any additional sites that have been installed since
the crash started happening.
11. Does recreating the site cache (SITE | Recreate Site Cache) help?
nope. error: "while executing SiteOperationsSiteMenu_RecreateCache command in
menus.xml, the following JavaScript error(s) occured: Execption thrown to
native function.
12. Are you using *any* OS-improving utilities like "TweakUI" for example?
nope.
13. Are you logging on as an ADMINISTRATOR, or do you have admin privileges?
not as admin, but as the only user on the computer with full admin privliges.
the only other thing to mention is that the version that is installed was a
trial version of DMX, that was upgraded to the latest version before first use,
used for it's 30 days, and a full version purchased 2 days after the software
expired. the new version was *not* installed, rather the registration code that
came with the purchased version used to register the software.
during the trial period, i was able to to use DMX, and add ftp sites, but i
always had problems connecting to the sites; i could add the sites, but as soon
as i attempted to connect to the site, the whole application would crash. now,
when i attempt to add a new site, or connect to the ones added previously, the
application crashes. (closes itself out, returning a windows error).
i would uninstall & reinstall, but i have done a good deal of color-coding
customization to the application which i would rather not have to do all over
again. if there is some way of retaining my color-coding settings, and still
uninstalling / installing the software (from the CD that was purchased), i
would be willing to do so.

This would make no difference.
Do your sites have to be FTP sites? What happens if you just define a site
like -
local -> C:\websites\gobbledygook?
Do you get a crash?
