Author hate to ask this

I was wondering if any of you would mind taking a couple of minutes and looking
at my site. I know that I like it, but that tells me nothing about if others
do. I know how to navigate it so I dont know if it's easy and understandable
etc. So if you dont mind Id like to know if it looks proffessional enough, if
it looks good as to design and content, and if its easy to understand and
navigate. I hate hard to understand pages or pages that make it hard on me to
find the info Im looking for.

Id would also appreciate any constructive critisism about the technical
aspects of it. Remember Im not an expert and have a limited knowledge of css.
So if you would suggest any changes Id appreciate a short explanation. Not
that I want anyone to go out of their way. But I would appreciate the favor.
By the way...I know it's pretty image heavy. I just dont know how to get it
any smaller without losing the images that make the site what it is. Ive
optimized them, and limited them as much as possible. So beyond that....

Oh...Im still adding a lot of the info pages etc. LOTS of work on that front
ahead of me.

THANKS

Very nice site. Was it done in Dreamweaver?

If it were people that are your 'target audience' i.e the 'great outdoors' types
browsing the site then I'd say the layout is pretty good, and it is to the point.

It was a little slow loading for my 56k dialup, but otherwise not bad.

Viewing in IE 6.0, Windows Millennium.

Mind you I'm no expert on web development

AHO:

Your site has certainly come a long way since my first viewing of it. This
is nice work on your part.

I'm certain you do not mean for these to be possessive -

Angler's --- Hunter's --- President's

Am I correct?

I recommend that you get rid of the navbar and replace it with simple image
swaps. The end result will be the same, and the code will be cleaner and
more lightweight.

I recommend that you clean up your CSS - ".style2" just doesn't say anything
meaningful to me.

I recommend you replace your PNG images with GIF or JPG (unless you are
using 8-bit PNG).

If it were me, I'd simplify the table structure to get rid of all of the
col- and rowspans.

If it were me, I'd get rid of the SnapLayer, and use CSS to manage all those
layers within a single parent.

Then you'd have a really snappy page (no pun intended).

Don't know if you're testing in Firefox (I'm still using version 8.0),
but the Hunter's Catalog page is messed up. Let me know if you want a
screenshot (too lazy unless necessary).

In addition to what Murray said about the navigation buttons, if you
could keep them closer together the user wouldn't have to use the
vertical scroll bar to read the ones on the bottom.

I assume you know that a couple of buttons lead to 404 error because the
site isn't finished yet?

I'm not much of a fisher and not at all a hunter, but the "look" seems
consistent with what they might like, I think, from my limited
experience with things like the Cabelas catalog! :-)

Oh, and I don't know if you care, but your font is defined as
Copperplate, which I don't have on my xp pro computer, so the test that
isn't a graphic shows up in my default font, which is Georgia. Others
will probably see it in Times New Roman or whatever the Mac default is.
So if you want more control over the text the user views it in
(there's a limit to this, of course), you should use a "web safe" font
family.

thanks everyone. Good advice. I'll try to make the changes.

Bonnie, messed up in firefox? How so? Ive viewed it there, but didnt see any
problems. could you expand please? Unless your talking about the red text
next to the picture of the drag strap when viewed in 800x600. This is in a
layer and appears to flow out of the table at 800x600. Unless I get rid of it
altogether I cant figure out how to get around the problem. It looks fine in
any screen above 800x600 so Im tempted just to leave it alone.

Id love to haer from as many different opinions as possible so if anyone else
wants to chime in, feel FREE! =-)

Actually it "flows out of the table" at any viewport under 1000 pixels wide.

That's exactlyl what I meant. Unfortunately, I'm a beginner myself so
don't know how to fix it, but it may have something to do with your
layer being inside a table? Maybe when I'm done with today's
decluttering (I'm getting ready to move) I'll play with it; then we
would both learn something!

And I think you probably meant "pew" instead of "pue."
