IN Philadelphia, the Spectrum was bought by First Union Bank. We all loved
calling it the FU center....

You seem to forget that from 1995 to 2002 it was 3Com Park, so this isn't
the first time it hasn't been Candlestick. Not that many people around here
abandoned the name Candlestick during those years, but still......

Yes - I know it's been 3Com. And I still think of it as Candlestick. I'm
sure Mssrs. Mays and McCovey do, too :-)

And many in Chicago still refer to US Cellular Field as Comiskey Park - even
though the actual Comiskey Park was demolished to make way for the new one.

A couple of other good stadium names still around: Soldier Field and Hubert
Humphrey Metrodome.

I like Candlestick Park. Fenway Park and Yankee Stadium are nice, too. I
guess a team or a city has to have a sort of plastic mindset to "sell"
the name of its sports stadia. Sad. I hope Macromedia does not buy the
name. Tradition is nice sometimes.

Or 'Da cell' :-)

But as for Macromedia Stadium/Macromedia Park, what percentage of football
viewers, or SF fans, are really interested in purchasing web-dev/des software?
Would this be a means to try to make their new web publishing system
mainstream? Or is it just ego? I wish they'd make Flex a little more
affordable first ;-)

<sarcasm>I'm glad my upgrade fees are going to critical business needs like
stadium naming rights instead of waste-of-time endeavors like...oh...fixing
bugs.</sarcasm>

wasn't candlestick already renamed 3com park when they sold the name rights
before? it's been a while since i lived in san fran, but i remember this pretty
well.

could be wrong though....but if i'm right, i'd much rather have a park named
after macromedia than 3com

Sounds like a great idea. Maybe MM could get the players to wear the d logo
on their shirts.

Think about it. If they did anything like that, it would wind up being
an f logo. ;-)

possibly. I worry more about the catcher and the first baseman having to
play Freehand.
