Author DW mx04 will not create drop down menus

I have DW MX 2004, on Mac OSx panther, on both a G4 and powerbook. On both
machines, I cannot get DW to allow me create drop down menus from the behaviors
'popup menu' choice.
The error message I get is: "unable to restore selection after making edits in
applybehavior. Try making edits in smaller steps and do not delete the selected
object. The action will not be added to your document."

This appears even if I only do the minimum changes like inserting one link.
Is this an OSX bug by any chance?. I have googled and only found one reference
to this error message and the tip didn't solve the problem.
I have reinstalled DW MX 2004, deleted preferences etc.

The webpage is all css, no tables.

Any ideas or suggestions?

I guess it's doing you a favor. These pop-up menus are good for only one
thing - avoiding! 8)

Have you read through the tutorials at the PVII site?

http://www.projectseven.com/tutoria...menus/index.htm

or

http://www.projectseven.com/tutoria..._hide/index.htm

and here's an example you can analyze -

Thanks!
Yes. I came across projectseven and now I'm trying to extend their menus.

I also have a few other options I might try.

I'm still curious about the DW bug as a friend of mine uses its menu behavior
all the time without a problem... and for quite extensive sites.
But I'll work away at the PVII and see what happens.
I take it from the forums that it is the best option if one sticks with DW. I
usually handcode where I can but have been impressed with some of the DW
shortcuts.
Thanks again!

For navigation elements with dHTML effects, the PVII methods cannot be
topped. There are a host of reasons why you'll be laughing at your friend's
puny attempt -
